Tokumma Foundation is a community-based organization rooted in Isiolo County in Kenya. We stand for the rights of marginalized and discriminated communities. Amplifying their voices to issues and fighting for their equality.

Empowering Communities, Transforming Lives
At Tokumma Foundation, our work is rooted in the lived experiences of marginalized communities in Isiolo. We design and implement programs that tackle the root causes of inequality, amplify underrepresented voices, and promote lasting social change. Our initiatives focus on five key pillars:
Driving Social Change Effectively
1. Gender Justice & Protection from GBV
We run targeted campaigns, safe space dialogues, and referral networks to protect women and girls from gender-based violence (GBV). Through community sensitization, partnerships with service providers, and legal empowerment, we promote a culture of zero tolerance toward GBV.
Programs include:
•Community GBV awareness forums and school outreaches
•Survivor support and linkage to psychosocial and legal services
•Engaging men and boys as allies in ending violence
2. Youth Empowerment & Civic Engagement
We believe youth are catalysts for change. We train and mentor young people in leadership, digital literacy, human rights, and peacebuilding to enhance their voices in local governance and community development.
Initiatives include:
•Youth leadership and advocacy training
•Civic education and voter awareness campaigns
•Art, sports, and media as tools for social transformation
3. Legal Aid and Human Rights Advocacy
Through our grassroots paralegal network and legal clinics, we help community members from marginalized groups ranging from women and children to members of the LGBTQ community to access justice and understand their rights. We address land rights, discrimination, unlawful arrests, and other systemic injustices.
